Assessors provide individual and family assessments for DFCS including Comprehensive Children and Family Assessments (recommendations for permanent or foster care placement). Other assessments include Trauma, Substance Abuse, Domestic Violence, and Parenting Assessments.  Assessors use industry-accepted assessment tools for all assessments. Training is provided. Assessors interact with DFCS, court systems, and foster parents.

Therapists assess client needs and provide direct in-home clinical treatment to children, adolescents, and parents/guardians. Therapists develop treatment plans; implement interventions; review outcomes; revisit/revise strategies as situations evolve; and employ other treatment methods compatible with agency principles, practices, and policies. Therapists engage clients and support caregivers and other key participants in active, change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling or related field
  • License-eligible in Georgia with a plan for and verified ability to obtain a junior license within six months (e.g. MSW), or verifiable junior (e.g. LMSW, LAPC, LAMFT), or full license (e.g. LCSW, LPC, LMFT) in the state of Georgia

Therapists assess client needs and provide direct in-home clinical treatment to children, adolescents, and parents/guardians. Therapists develop treatment plans; implement interventions; review outcomes; revisit/revise strategies as situations evolve; and employ other treatment methods compatible with agency principles, practices, and policies. Therapists engage clients and support caregivers and other key participants in active, change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement.

Therapists collaborate with all relevant internal/external systems/participants to ensure cooperation and to maximize effectiveness throughout treatment. Therapists meet regularly with the clinical supervisor to staff cases.

Therapists maintain clear documentation of treatment efforts. They attend internal training meetings and external professional development opportunities to extend knowledge and remain current on best practices.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling or related field
  • Junior license (e.g. LMSW, LAPC, LAMFT) or full license (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT) in the state of Georgia highly preferred. Candidates who are license-eligible in Georgia with a plan for and verified ability to obtain a junior license within six months of hire will be considered
  • Documented experience working with at-risk children and families
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and sensitivity to diverse cultures

Behavioral Aides provide support to children, adolescents, and/or their parents or guardians in the community. In alignment with a client’s treatment plan, the Behavioral Aide assists in skill building with the client and other vested parties to safely maintain children in their home. Behavioral Aides link clients with additional community resources and provide case management services.

Behavioral Aides teach, reinforce, and motivate children, adolescents, and families toward behavioral change. Behavioral Aides serve as a liaison between a family and other mental health professionals providing services to the family.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, or related human services field
  • Two or more years of experience working as a community support individual or with in-home case management is preferable
  • Documented experience working with at-risk children, adolescents, and families
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and sensitivity to diverse cultures

Transporters drive children in foster care to court hearings, doctor appointments, school and camp, visits with their parents, and to new foster placements.

Transporters must have a high school diploma and one year of human services experience.
